Scottsdale "LOVE" Statue

Scottsdale Public Art = true love.  The Love statue at the Scottsdale Civic Center is a great place to pose for pictures.  Scottsdale added this to the Civic Center in 2002 from the Pop Artist Robert Indiana's many versions of LOVE.   Similar sculptures may be seen in New York City, Philadelphia and Tokyo.  Scottsdale's sculpture is first in a series of five made of polychrome red and blue aluminum, standing over 12 feet tall.   Pictured:  1) the Scottsdale Sister Cities Youth Ambassadors to Interlaken share the Love and 2) the first USPS Love stamp from 1973.  When the nation was pulling troops out of Vietnam, this love icon was popular with everyone, not just the hippies.  (Remember when first class mail was eight cents?)
