Come watch the bareback and saddle bronc riding, team and tie-down roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling and bull riding. The parade started as the Sunshine Parade in 1951, until the Jaycees took it over in 1954 and changed the name to the Parada del Sol. The rodeo was added in 1956. I remember the days in the 70's and 80's when we got out of school for half a day, a day where everyone wore western clothing and went to the parade and rodeo. Now it is a month long event, but where else can one go and see librarians pushing synchronized book carts?
