This beautiful blooming saguaro from the Powderhorn Ranch neighborhood is no more. When new owners moved in a couple years ago, they changed their desert landscape to grass, with water fountains. I miss this cactus as if it were an old friend. Okay, so it had lost an arm that weighed almost a ton (a saguaro can weigh 10 tons). And it started to lean a bit. Once it lost its arm, I think it would have righted itself. Permits are required to remove a saguaro from public lands, but even on your own property, permission is required. I guess its poor health led to its demise. We miss you, old fellow.
