Musical Instrument Museum - Celebrate Teachers and Bastille Day in July

Photos by Julie Santamaria
July is the perfect month to visit the MIM - Musical Instrument Museum on Scottsdale Road near Mayo Blvd.  Besides being a cool place to spend a hot afternoon, July is free for teachers or other school personnel with an ID badge.  Enjoy music by the continents as each has a huge room divided by country.  Visitors don headsets that allow them to listen to music, and view the development of musical instruments from each country.  Video accompanies these sound bits and show locals playing the often strange instruments, their costumes, and dances.  Exhibits on the lower level include some famous and unusual types of instruments, temporary exhibits, as well as an interactive room.  Saturday, July 14th is a celebration of Bastille Day in conjunction with the Alliance Francaise for everything French,
