Peregrine Falcons are one of the amazing raptors found in Arizona, such as this one at Liberty Wildlife Rescue. Falcons are well-adapted to survival as they fly high in the air, and using their keen eyesight, locate their prey. As they dive nearly straight down, they can reach speeds of 200 mph while keeping their eyes locked on the victim. A mouse will never see him coming or have time to react. Falcons can also attack birds mid-flight. They nest on mesas or high cliffs away from predators, and mate for life. Liberty Wildlife is a great Scottsdale facility that rehabilitates raptors and other rescued wildlife. (See blog: Eagle, 3/29 and Owl, 6/18)
