Though I have included McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in this blog before (carousel, concerts, Christmas lights), I have not covered all of the fun activities for children and winter visitors. Today's temperature of 77 degrees will be a perfect day in the park. Head over to Western Town, a miniature adobe village with its stagecoach perfect for climbing, over to another playground with small rock walls, ropes, ladders, curved slides, towers, swings all built over sand or soft rubber mats with plenty of seating around for supervisors. Visit the model train museum, a 10,000 foot building of model railroads run by four model train clubs adjacent to a full-size 1928 Roald Amundsen Presidential Pullman Car. Also find a WWII French
Merci Train generously filled after the war by French people to aid others devastated by the ravages of war, at a time when the French people were still suffering such losses themselves.
Story of Merci Train. Of course, for $2, visitors can ride the train or carousel. Check out the Railroad Museum and General Store, or get an ice cream and enjoy the sunshine!! (See Railroad Park blogs of Mar. 5, June 17, July 1 and Dec. 16.)
