Scottsdale Architecture - Chaparral Water Treatment Plant

From every angle, this building astounds your eyes and mind.  The shadows alone could keep a photographer here all day.  Rusting angular partitions, shades that resemble sails, desert landscaping, gabion walls (local rocks inside metal framing) all create a centerpiece at Chaparral Park.  And yes, it is a water treatment facility.  With no unsightly tanks, cyclone fences, odor, noise, or traffic concerns, Chaparral WTP produces 30,000,000 gallons of micro-filtered water daily, surpassing water quality standards without using any hazardous chemicals.   Surrounded by an interpretive xeriscape garden, dog park, and ball fields, this Scottsdale beauty has received well-deserved awards for architecture and engineering when it opened in 2007.
