Frank Lloyd Wright Spire

Frank Lloyd Wright's 125 foot spire was designed as part of his 1957 proposal for the Arizona State Capitol building.  Finally, in 2004, the lone spire was erected in Scottsdale where Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard bends from Bell Road.  Wright's love of the hexagon can be seen here, and it shows up more clearly when illuminated at night, with its cool blue glow.  Surrounding the spire at the Promenade shopping center are several abstract bronze sculptures by Wright's student,  Heloise Crista, many of which show human figures dancing, as Crista was a dancer.  Her work can be seen at various places around Scottsdale, but especially at Taliesin West's sculpture garden.
