Nothing says America (or Scottsdale) like a big-finned, highly-chromed '59 Caddy. GM began the elaborate fin design in 1948, and with increased competition from Chrysler, the design engineers (who loved new jet aircraft design) went over the top in '59, making these "Flamboyant Fins" look like jet exhaust ports. And the downward drop of the side is due to the GM directive that Cadillac use an interchangeable Buick door, which sloped downward. Bob and I love to take visitors to this classic car show held every Saturday evening at the Scottsdale Pavilions off Indian Bend and the 101.
If you have 5 minutes, check out this You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4IcFSQW7C0&feature=related At 2:11 there is a beautiful black '59 Caddy. Check out the reflections of the palm trees. And at 4:38, reflections off a gorgeous black Corvette Sting Ray with classic '64 "boattail." You really get the feel of this car show.
BOBs new car? Nice
