It's a great day to take a hike!! Sunrise Peak sits in the middle of the McDowell Sonoran Reserve, offering a moderate (5.5 miles, 2 hour round trip) hike up a pyramid-shaped mountain which opens to this 360 degree vista. The hike looks over Four Peaks to the Northeast in the Mazatzal Range and Scottsdale's mountains of Camelback and Mummy Mountain to the Southwest. Our golden retriever, Bailey, looks down over the fountain in Fountain Hills which runs for 15 minutes on the hour each hour during the day. Built in 1970, the fountain at full power can reach 562 feet, which was the tallest fountain in the world for a decade. Before it gets too hot, take a hike.
