Mustang Library Horse Sculpture

Photos by Lisa E White
Scottsdale Public Art is found throughout the city, especially at public buildings such as the libraries.  This wooden sculpture at the Mustang Library is "Arizona" by Ellen Forsyth*.  Layers of wood veneer are unveiled in the carving process, making it appear like ancient tree rings.  Keeping with the horse theme, Scottsdale libraries not only offer an escape from the stresses of the world through their millions of books and other resources, but also offer a cool, quiet haven filled with accessible art.  Sometimes we don't realize how lucky we are in Scottsdale.
*Note: this is my best research. I could find no label nor much information on-line.  Scottsdale Public Art website is under construction.
