Color May yellow for all of the plants like the Palo Verde trees that are blossoming. Yellow petals float through the air, dusting the ground like leaves in the fall. In 1954, the Palo Verde became the Arizona state tree and is the perfect desert tree because it needs no additional water to survive.
Sometimes the beauty is in what you cannot see. Notice no electric or telephone wires. Most of Scottsdale and all of Paradise Valley has underground wiring, so the horizon is unaltered. The views in Scottsdale are a primary attraction of the city. Scottsdale had an early billboard and sign bill, limiting the height of signs to four feet and no external neon, as well as having a restriction of three stories (36') for buildings. Building heights are still a city controversy, and some buildings with special permits now exceed three stories. Note the Maricopa Salt River Pima Indian Reservation does not have such strict codes for billboards, signs or building heights.
