Friday Night Splash at El Dorado Pool

"Floating World" at El Dorado Pool

Beat the heat at one of Scottsdale's four aquatic centers.  Lap swimming makes up most of the daily swim activities with varying times from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.  But for family fun all summer, public swim is Saturday and Sundays from 1-5, and now Friday nights from 5-8 with "Friday Night Splash."  The El Dorado Aquatic Center, the oldest facility, was renovated beginning in 2000.  In addition to 13 lanes for lap swimming, El Dorado offers four diving boards, two 1-meter and two 3 meter; water exercise classes; swimming lessons; therapy pool; water playground; beach-like play pool; grassy area; multiple shaded areas under large, blue umbrellas; and a 190-foot lithocrete (mosaic-like) river that begins from the entrance, snaking around to the beach area in a beautiful art installation through Scottsdale Public Art called "Floating World" (stay tuned tomorrow for details of the art.)  Swimming is only $2 and the adjacent fitness center is only $1 for residents.  What a perfect way to escape the extreme June heat.
