Iron Masks the Ugly

The box with the iron mask is a screen (scrim) required by the City of Scottsdale of the Wireless Communications Facilities to cover up new wiring boxes.  The metal has taken on a natural patina of rust.  The late Councilman, Tony Nelssen, created many of the designs that were fabricated by Cavalliere's Blacksmith Shop in Old Town.  Unsightly utility boxes are covered by these iron screens, fake cacti and artificial rocks.  Along with the fact that most of the utility wires are buried, these disguises add artistic flair to the landscape and enhance the natural beauty of Scottsdale.
