Voted in the New Times in 2011 as the Best Place to keep it real in Scottsdale, the Coach House has been the place to mosey up to the bar since 1959. With a hitching post out front for your horse, the Coach House opens at 6 a.m. 365 days a year. Though the tiny house-turned-bar may be small, it is not a dive bar. There is a wrap around patio on which to enjoy a drink as you watch the sunrise or set. You'll find it hopping during spring training or Christmas time, when it is decorated from ceiling to floor with wrapping paper, lights and decorations. Bob and Mary Brower are the original owners. One of the things I love about South Scottsdale is the number of family-owned restaurants, gems to explore on those hot summer nights. Nothing against chain restaurants, but it is nice to support local Scottsdale businesses. More dining diamonds in the desert will be covered this summer in "I Love Scottsdale."
