The West is not known for its public transportation, but Scottsdale Trolleys offer a fantastic,
free service to get around Scottsdale. Sometimes referred to as Molly the Trolley, the Downtown trolley makes up to 25 stops from Old Town, over to the Galleria, through the Arts District, over the bridge to Scottsdale Fashion Square, with pickups at the stops every 15 minutes. The Neighborhood Trolley picks up every 20 minutes from stops as far South as Roosevelt to the Civic Center, East to Granite Reef and West past 68th Street. The Miller Road Trolley, every 30 minutes, goes as far North as MacDonald near Saguaro, over to SCC, and South to Sky Song and McKellips. During high season, a Hospitality Trolley is added which goes to major resorts and shopping areas near Scottsdale Road all the way North to the Princess Resort. For printable maps and information on stops, check out:
Scottsdale Trolleys.
Parking is free in Scottsdale, trolleys are free, and the drivers are not allowed to take tips.
The second Saturday of each month, a special two-hour guided tour (10:30-12:30) is available from LocalMotion Tours, sponsored by local business through Ultimate Art and Cultural Tours, reservations are needed, 480-634-6850. This tour company offers group and corporate tours throughout the year. Or you can hire "Ollie the Trolley" for special events. Take advantage of all of the public transportation which gives you an easy way to see more of Scottsdale.
