Big Surf Waterpark's Two-for-Tuesdays

Photos by About.com
Located on the edge of Scottsdale on Hayden just South of McKellips Road, America’s original wave pool, opened in 1969 by wave designer Phil Dexter, uses 2.5 million gallons of water with over 15 slides on its 20-acre facility.  Surf and Boogie Board lessons are offered to teach novices how to enjoy the wave generated every 3 minutes.  Big Surf's Waikiki Beach is great for sunning and people-watching, but other highlights include the Hurricane Falls body slides, The Abyss dark enclosed tube slide, and Kilauea Cove, twin enclosed slides that can accommodate single or double tubes. Bora Bora play area and Capt. Cook’s Landing offer great fun for kids.  Living Social has a half-price deal this week, but Tuesdays are always one free with one paid admission.   Check the website for other great deals.  It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day until September 16, so plenty of summer remains to enjoy this original Arizona beach.  Check out:  Big Surf
