Desert Stages

July 1, 1995 marked the first audition for Scottsdale's local theater, Desert Stages' production of the Ugly Duckling.  The late Gerry Cullity, his wife Laurie and mother, Joan Thompson, began a children's theater that is now legendary, having cast thousands of local talent over the past 17 years.  Summer camps for kids are available throughout the summer in three-week sessions.  Cinderella: A Ragtime Musical is finishing this week, with Grease playing July 9-27.  Auditions were held July 1 for Disney's High School Musical which will run August 24-September 23.  An adult theater also is available with Rent running from July 13-August 11th, at the same time frame as both a male and female version of The Odd Couple.  Join the more than 300,000 past audience members, get out of the heat, and take a journey to Scottsdale's own little Broadway, located just north of Scottsdale Fashion Square mall.
