Scottsdale boasts the highest number of destination spas per capata of any city in the United States. Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa, a luxury boutique hideaway on Camelback Mountain overlooking spectacular views of the Arizona desert, is one of the city's oldest and finest. The resort was originally designed as a tennis club in the 1950s by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé Hiram Hudson Benedict. In 2001, the resort was completely renovated and the spa was expanded. Spa services now include everything from from standard facials to aquatic massages. The resort retains its commitment to the championship tennis courts that defined it from the start, but the grounds are also ideal for yoga and meditation.
