Scottsdale High School - In Memoriam

Photo from Scottsdale Public Library Digital History
Photo Google Earth Street View - (too lazy to stand in the middle of the road on a 115 degree day)
In loving memory of Scottsdale High, who only survived 60 years from 1922-1983.  For the 17,000+ Beavers out there, do you meet at the Hilton Garden Inn?  When SUSD had declining enrollment in the 80's, and development was moving North, very heated discussions occurred at the District Office, and SHS did not survive the cuts.  Also, the property had the most value.  The beautiful columns of the original school are reproduced on the corner of Indian School and Drinkwater, but few people know this.  A nice memorial plaque was dedicated last June at the hotel site.  Much SHS memorabilia may be seen at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Old Town.  As a former Scottsdale High teacher ('79-80) I can say I have never worked with a more dedicated, tight-knit staff.  Go Beavers!!
