August 8th is back to school day for over 25,000 students in Scottsdale. Desert Mountain High School is the newest high school to serve our Northeast Scottsdale neighborhood. (Check out those solar panels!!) When it opened in 1995, we referred to it as the "Taj Mahal" because of its elaborate design and large size (much larger than the Taj Mahal!!) DMHS now enrolls about 2,500 students in 9-12 and ranks #12 of all Arizona schools because of high test scores and 40% of students taking AP courses. Also, DMHS houses the district's IB (International Baccalaureate) program. If it is too large for you, open enrollment allows students to attend any public school or charter school for free. Motivated students can get a fabulous education in Scottsdale with so many choices. Or if you prefer to pay twice (including your taxes) for schooling, the Scottsdale area also has great private high schools include Notre Dame Prep (Catholic), Jess Schwartz (Jewish), Thunderbird Academy (Adventist) and Scottsdale Christian Academy (Christian), all recording great academic results. So for all of my teenage neighbors: Go Wolves!!!
See this blog: Saguaro (3/31) and Coronado (7/18&7/19) and look for Chaparral High tomorrow(8/9)!!!
