Kevin Berry designed this 1200 foot buffer wall, extending from Camelback to Indian School along Goldwater, for Scottsdale Public Art in 1999. Seven steel fish, from 9-18 feet long, swim along a wave of river rock toward the canal at Indian School, making a tribute to the importance of water and the canals to Scottsdale. Glass block behind each fish create a glow in the afternoon, and reddish lights illuminate each fish at night. How many times have you driven past this "Tributary Wall" and wondered, "Why fish?" Well, next time notice that one fish, the largest, swims "upstream." Hmmmmm . . . . does this show how crazy we all are for living in the desert?
