Scottsdale has some unique architecture as evidenced by the cross-shaped hyperbolic-domed concrete shells of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church on Granite Reef and Rose Lane. Designed and built by Wendell E. Rossman and Associates in 1972, the interior is decorated with near-abstract mosaic of the Stations of the Cross and an etched-glass suspended image of the crucifixion. Parishioners tell of special miracles at this church including apparitions of the Virgin. Mass Mon.-Sat. at 8 a.m. or Sunday 7:30, 9:00 and 11:00.
