As I drove by Pinnacle Peak and Scottsdale Road today, I noticed that they are beginning to develop the property on the Southeast corner that was once Rawhide Western Town. Rawhide was a favorite attraction in Scottsdale with cowboy shootouts, steakhouse, stagecoach and camel rides. I loved to watch our son compete in tic-tac-toe against a chicken who never lost because she always went first. Rawhide was way up north, but civilization began encroaching. Developments sprung up around the town, and property values soared. So Rawhide moved south to Wild Horse Pass. So a mere 25 miles south, you can still enjoy the western experience, cowboy cooking, music and entertainment. Scottsdale misses Rawhide, but it is still a great place to take winter visitors:
