The Bell, the Flower and the Wash

Photos by Lisa E White
As you continue your stroll up the 11-mile Indian Bend Wash, you will spot The Bell, the Flower and the Wash, a recently installed abstract art piece adjacent to Fire Station #1 on Miller Road in El Dorado Park north of McDowell Road.  Scottsdale Public Art chose this work by New York artist Ilan Averbuch to represent the bell at the fire station as well as the trumpet flower found in the Arizona desert.  A bench, which is in the shade of the bells, is made of recycled rock from New York City bridges.  Each bell, made of Cor-ten steel, is 15 feet long.
