The Wedge - Indian Bend Wash South

Photos by Lisa E White
This week, I Love Scottsdale blog will take an eleven-mile trip along the Indian Bend wash, which is filled with beautiful parks and public facilities.  Located toward the Southern end, the 16,500 square-foot Wedge offers skateboarders and inline skaters a Fun Box, Amoeba Bowl, Launch Box, Quarter-Pipe, Pyramid, curbs, and rails.  Though signs recommend wearing helmets and other protective padding, skaters are unsupervised and skate at their own risk.  It is a dream for these skateboarders that are banished from other park areas, and often experienced skaters are here to spot tricks and offer tips.   (These photos were taken before school was out, and the skaters pictured are in their late 20's, and very good.)  The Wedge is just north of McDowell Road near Miller, adjacent to Eldorado Park which offers an outdoor amphitheater, swimming pool, two lakes, two children's playgrounds, five-mile course and softball, soccer, basketball and a sand volleyball court.
