One hundred years ago, the Arizona climate might have drawn many people with health conditions such as tuberculosis who could benefit from the warm, dry air of the desert. The climate is now one of the leading economic factors for Scottsdale which we measure through the tourism industry. From 1928 when the Jokake Inn opened in Scottsdale, winter visitors have come here and each year continue to fill our hotels, restaurants and golf courses. Winter highs average 68 degrees, spring 77 degrees and fall 87 degrees Who doesn't love our 330 days of sunshine? Our great weather brings us spring baseball training, major conferences and events, golf and tennis tournaments and thousands of sun worshipers. Scottsdale businesses love the tourists and Snowbirds, but residents complain about crowds and traffic. I know that we can wait a few months and take advantage of great summer deals and open seating.
