Scottsdale's Unofficial Sister City - Paradise Valley

The adobe house pictured was built by  Swiss emigrant Eda Starchi  who homesteaded the original 160 acres of the Cholla Gardens neighborhood of Paradise Valley  in 1923. Mrs. Starchi sold the first acre to Joe and Helen Hare in 1962 because she wanted to raise the money to travel to Egypt. The house is still standing and inhabited only by termites.
