Scottsdale loves horses.  This weekend at WestWorld near Pima and the 101, the Arabian Breeder Finals will showcase the best of the breed.  Owners and trainers will wear suits to show their horses and compete for prize money.  West World is managed by the City of Scottsdale, a 120-acre venue for big equestrian shows like the Arabian Shows and Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in January, as well as the Parada del Sol Rodeo.   Begun in 1983 after the Cholla Park facility closed to make way for a new runway at the Scottsdale Airport, the equestrian center has grown to include parks, a golf course, and many multi-use arenas.  The City of Scottsdale's mission is to improve the infrastructure of the facility to keep these annual events in Scottsdale, and approved a $42.8 million dollar expansion of the Tony Nelssen Equidome to create a year-round climate controlled facility.  I remember being skeptical when Saguaro High School had their Homecoming dance there several years ago, but it is a great facility for those kind of large events.
