La Gran Fiesta



Today, Scottsdale celebrates the rich artistry of Latin and Hispanic culture at the Civic Center with free activities for the family all day.  Not only will there be Mexican mariachis and folkloric dancers, but Latin and Salsa bands such as one of the hottest Latin bands from Miami, Tiempo Libre, who perform at 7 p.m.  The Scottsdale Sister Cities Junior Board along with the high school International Clubs has arranged an all-high school party from 5-7 in the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center atrium.  Also, SMoCA is free today for the celebration, so check out their Counterculture exhibit (See Oct. 25th blog)  or sit in the James Turrell Knight Rise (See Sept. 2 blog) for some quiet reflection.  (Old Town comes alive in November with the return of the Singing Cowboy on Saturdays (Apr. 27 blog)  and also the Saturdays Farmer's Market (See May 25th blog) reopens.)
