La Sillas de Alamos, Mexico

Chaparral High art students paint one Alamos chair.
Celebrating 40 years as Scottsdale's first Sister City, Alamos, Mexico shares its great tradition as an art community with Scottsdale through its special chair project.  Fifteen hand-crafted chairs were brought to Scottsdale for local artists to paint and decorate, then auctioned off to benefit the Alamos student exchange program.  Last night (sorry, a day late) over a hundred people attended the silent auction and reception at the Legacy Gallery on Main Street where nine of the fifteen chairs were sold.  Six chairs remain for a future event.  For more information, contact Kathy George at kathygeorge9@gmail.com or on the SSCA website:  Scottsdale Sister Cities or "like" SSCA on Facebook: SSCA Facebook  Also see my blog of Sept. 27 about our newest sister city, Marrakech, Morocco which will host the first Scottsdale student delegation in March.
